   The Red Tepee –
 Art,
from artists all over Australia and overseas will come together in a patchwork
liner within the walls of a Red Tepee to create intimate expressions of a
woman’s relationship to her womb

The majestic and earthly form of an 18 foot flame red tepee is an experiential art installation and retreat space celebrating menstruation. It will be lined with a patchwork of art work from 89 women to represent the
Universal womb. Lined with 91 depictions (painted and sewn on canvas pieces) it reflects the many faces of a woman’s relationship to her womb. The Inner linin  will offer the viewer an authentic visual experiences of insightful understandings that ‘sisters’ share as ‘one’ creation - woman. The womb is a creative centre of which women can share a connection beyond the mind, so art offers a great medium to give it expression.

The Red tepee is a Community Arts Project that empowers women to express their relationship with Bleeding. The red tepee harnesses the sacred lore of the tribe through the use of art and storytelling. The red tepee will  create the same simple power of personal understanding and in this simple form of exchange.

The Red tepee is reclaiming the tradition of the ‘Red Tent’ as a retreat space for women while bleeding. Celebrating women’s cycle, fertility, and feminine nature, empower women to be equal, as a woman, rather than by a masculine paradigm of ‘power’ thus humanity regains natural order and balance between the sexes. It also celebrates the innate relationship women have with the earth and moon in their physical relationship with creation. A woman bleeds with the 28.5 day cycle with the moon, and is able to create new life from within their body.

InformEmotion initiated the project Bleeding Art - Bleeding Heart, which utilises the modality of art therapy to explore the process of menstruation, from which the Red Tepee Project was born. The vision is to offer a safe and powerful forum for girls approaching menache, their first bleed, tobe initiated into experience the
intimate and venerable reflections of women in a deeply authentic way within a
‘woman’s circle’.

Art work is a wonderful language to offer other women and girls an understanding of what it means to be woman. The red tepee will generate a network of support based on connectedness, promoting togetherness rather than mseparation and competitiveness. It symbolises ‘one-woman’, that is all women being one, as we are reflections and parts of a whole united ‘she’; the feminine energy manifest on earth.

The liner will consist of individually created ‘patches’ sewn together. It echoes the modern tradition of quilt making that has been used as a political, cultural and personal statement for other highly emotive topics. These include; The Safe Motherhood Quilt – co-ordinated by Inna May Gaskin - http://rememberthemothers.org/ and The Birth Rites Quilt – co-ordinated by Seneka Cohen- http://birthquilt.com/ as well as  The
AIDS Quilt - http://www.aidsquilt.org/.

This art form it has brought media attention and sparked social debate which enables impactful personal
exchange.
Picture

The first part of the project involved creating the funds through
the pozible.com crowd funding to,  invite the artists and distribute
canvas pieces and to raise money to purchase a Red Tepee The artists
are currently creating their visions of their ‘womb story’ onto their
canvas pieces……

Sue and Don from ‘Gentle Earth Walking’ tipi’s in Daylesford, Victoria is helping make this
vision a living reality by supporting us to make the tepee that will
house the art work.
http://www.gentleearthwalking.com.au/tipidon/tipidon.html.

The second phase of the tepee will exhibit the art work so that it is acknowledged as an art piece in its own right. It will travel festivals and markets.

The third phase will use the Red Tepee as a Menstrual
Retreat women to support one another to take time to retreat from the world into the red tepee to honour their inner process and bleeding womb – letting go physically and emotionally while letting their blood spill naturally back to the earth to regenerate the ‘great mother.’ This will imbue the space with the ritual of honouring self and the earth.

The fourth phase of the project is to use the tepee for workshops.  The tepee will create a space for girls and women to explore their emotional selves and receive tools to help them understand the connection between their emotions and physical bodies. At a time when girls are feeling self-conscious and often emotionally
timid whilst undergoing  social and physical changes, art can offer a ‘wordless’ exchange and a process for empowerment and understanding. Images can offer powerful hooks in our memory when there is something we relate to within it. This creates a safe environment to take on information gently, build new identity and also tools that can equip intrapersonal growth and ongoing
  wellness.

Last night 3rd of June...
Bleeding art Bleeding heart reached it's
goal of 3000 dollars!!!

Thank you for believing in the project and Thank you for the journey we are
embarking on together I look forward to watching it unfold...

I still welcome more artists and supporters as the more support and artists
the more reflections of woman to share and the more possibility foe the
project... to keep sharing the information.

I am so full of gratitude and so humbled and excited by the possibilities
ahead

As women we hold a lot of energy in our hands, hearts and lives...

It is this a beautiful gift and burden we hold .... much like bleeding...

This project already holds so much energy as the word has spread... what a
gift of potential.

Now to make the plan clear as a few people seem unsure of some of the
details...

Part 1.

Step 1. - The 10th of June makes step 1... of the project... the funds
being met and then collected & given to the Bleeding art Bleeding heart
project

Step 2. The tepee will be ordered.

Step 3. - The canvas will be sent out to you - by the end of June

 - once the amount of artists are known and the design of the liner (by the
then decided tepee maker) so the canvas is shaped just right

Detailed instructions / guidelines will be sent out

Step 4. You will have til October to paint or sew and design the canvas...
and return it

 Part 2.

The tepee will be constructed - the lining made and then by summer it will begin to be exhibited - Many have offered to host it in their areas... so hopefully it can travel to many communities

 Part 3.

The tepee will be used as a Red Tent for a few months to imbue it with the
real use of the Red Tent in early - mid 2014

 Part 4.

The tepee will hopefully have gained a name and publicity will continue &
workshops will begin...

Part 4.

Girls rights of passage into Menarche will begin...

Grace Natakhan for taking us over the line to
achieving the $3000... I could feel you, as you pledged again straight after you
must have realised there was only 15 dollars to reach the goal... as I get
notified immediately after a new pledge via my smart phone.. a very happy
moment.

 Thank you all..
May we all discover the beauty of knowledge within us... to offer the wisdom
of our feminine selves to others...

 Love Michelle Buggy

Bleeding art Bleeding heart Project - The Red Tepee

Bleeding Art - Bleeding Heart ..

A Women's Experiential Community Arts Project to express their relationship with Bleeding ... in an art form

Picture
Bleeding Art Bleeding Heart Community Art's Project will create a 'Red Tent'

for women in a Red Tepee that is lined with a patchwork of women's artistic

reflections of their relationship to their womb or menstrual cycle.

Picture

The tepee will represent the Universal womb

I am an Experiential and Creative Arts Therapist.

Through my practice InformEmotion,
I want to join women together to express the power of our
creative bodies that will move women & girls to feel their connection to menstruation
using art as a process.

Art work is a wonderful language to offer other women & girls to understand their
relationship to themselves as women, to their womb, earth cycles,
sensuality and menstruation.

I am asking women to contribute to the art piece by painting the depth of
their relationship to their womb on canvas that will be patch-worked onto the lining of the tepee.

The patch that will be for each individual to express
emotional understanding of their experience of being a woman & is limitless
in possibility& unrestricted.
I only ask artists to be in their authenticity.

Picture

The lining of the tepee will be the creative canvas

The second phase of the project is to use the tepee.
The tepee will offer girls & women a space to experience the depth of their relationship to
their feminine self & other women.

The tepee will then be used to create a forum for girls& woman to explore
their ‘feeling’ emotional selves & be offered tools to understand the
connection between their emotions and physical bodies.

The art pieces that would line the red tepee and later travel to educate
teen-women about their menarche (first bleed.)
The tepee becomes a safe and sacred space to explore the beauty of emotional & physical individuality
where young women can explore the tumultuous feeling that accompany adolescence,
the transition of being girl to one who has the capacity to become mother using art
therapy as a method for personal understanding .
And it will be a space to share the wisdom of all women
& their Connection to creation - Mother Earth.

Picture

Some traditional linings were also educational

If you would be interested in contributing to this Community Arts Project - Bleeding Art - Bleeding Heart.

Please pledge to our Pozible crowd fundraiser & receive a piece of canvas to adorn the tepee.

You will receive a package with guidelines in June 2013 to complete
and will need to submit the project by October 2013.

By creating a painting on a canvas patch to line the inside of the Red Tepee you
will be contributing to the future of Women's empowerment by imbuing the next
generation with greater depth of understanding of themselves as women.

Money Breakdown

The money made will go toward the purchase of

the tepee,
the paint primer,
the postage,
and the sewing of the lining into a patchwork.

I have the canvas for the
lining ready to offer the artists.

We have
the plans to
make something special for future generations

Other projects I have been involved with...

White Owl Tree

 In 2005 I have coordinated 18 woman
artists to create a ‘Tree of Life’ piece
linking the pathways of the
Kabbalah to form a vision of how the artists
connected to the major arcana
of the tarot that made up the boundaries of their
canvas piece into their
experience, to form a 18 unique & connected part of
the ‘White Owl
Tree’ of life puzzle. This was exhibited at Prana House in
Northcote.

Picture

 Earth Mama’s

I have also been involved in the coordination & publishing of a limited print Birth
Stories Book called ‘Earth Mama’s’ to honour the local midwife who assisted the 35 woman involved .

Over the previous decade, I have worked doing facilitated art therapy for a
range of community service organisations as well as in the local community. I am
blessed to be the mother of 5 beautiful children and enjoy a rich communitylife.

We potentially only need 100 pledges!

Please note - The cost of the pledge will be taken from your bank account, but will be returned if the
$3000.00 project target is not met. And then the project will not be continued in this manner so you will not receive the items listed. BUT anything over can contribute to the next phases of this project coming alive!
