Creative Arts therapy using arts processes to create meaning, rather than focusing on

Arts therapy can be helpful & engaging way for young people & adults who want to
explore self-understanding, self-direction & foster self-expression while feeling safe

While using Creative art therapy origins,
I also use other therapeutic frameworks to give a broad range of skills & insight to an individuals needs.
Theses include Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Skills, Parts work (IFS) & Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

The old saying,
“A picture is worth a thousand words,” reflects the powerful effect that the arts and creative expression have on human understanding and communication. Art therapy works to harness that power for therapeutic means.

  • Art exercises are facilitated, to open up new personal 'ways' of seeing, feeling and being

through engaging in new ways to integrate experiences.
The process & the inquiry promotes greater mental health and well-being.
The unpacking of the art is focused on personal understanding.
What can emerge in art making is unfiltered responses in a safe expressive form
& the art therapist facilitates understanding of these ‘parts of self.’

Art therapy provides individuals facing physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges with new pathways toward understanding and self-expression, in a way that can defy description as it comes from a 'felt' & 'embodied' understanding. This can be a life line when things don't make sense in the mind.

Art can cut through cognitive barriers & ‘stuck’ thoughts and feelings that inhibit personal freedom & directly access & free problematic issues in a new way.

I am trained in both therapy and art.
I can also use other models of therapy (ACT, DBT, parts work (IFS) and other Trauma informed practices using an art therapy lens, with the central goal of improving individual’s well-being.
